League of Legends has been gaining quite the buzz from gamers who managed to snag an invite to the private beta, but according to Kotaku the free beta is now open to the public a few days ahead of schedule.
LoL’s developers, Riot Games, are calling the beta the “pre-season,” signifying a seasonal strategy in which new content such as maps and characters is made available in cycles similar to television seasons. In this way, new content can be released in waves, keeping the competition in a constant state of flux.
“Season One” starts early next year, and anyone who jumps on the beta will be allowed to carry over their character experience when the full game launches.
