5 out of 5 stars best game ever   July 25, 2010

I already own this game for the Xbox 360 and I wanted to play some of the many Mods available only to PC users, which in itself has been rewarding enough. But what really amazed me was the increased level of detail of the PC version over the council versions. If you were a fan of the game for counsel I would recommend buying it again for PC.

Oh if I can get my money back. I have played the game for about a week trying my best to somehow like it or get to a point where it picks up but it just doesn't and bores the hell out of me. All we have is a never-ending grey, washed-out and utterly destroyed land-scape that begans to get depressing after a while. Plus the bunkers, interiors etc all look the same too and I dont know its just me but the enemies are repetitious too like I just killed a raider and within seconds I am attacked by another raider who just looked like a cut & paste version of the one that I just killed 10 seconds ago. The game combat system didn't impress me either. You have VATS which is matrix-equeish bullet-time pause version of the combat or you can slug it out like an ordinary fps. VATS though impressive in its visual effects and fun to use for the first few times but gets old real fast after using it for the 20th time or so plus the AP dependency and 50% damage reduction tapers down even the fun factor of it too. The real-time fps combat is neither fun nor much better either. Because of the terrian targeting enemies becomes a hassle and scarcity of the ammo in the game also goes polar opposite of the official gameplay videos which shows people firing weapons with almost limitless arsenal.

Anyhoo me and bethesda dont seem to get along when it comes to games. The main-story is poorly developed and just doesn't grab you like some other rpg's do. Also the side quests are not fun either and just becomes a repetitious chore so you can become strong enough as imagine being asked to fight impossibly super-strong mutants at lvl 2 if you adhere to the main questline. I know some people love this game fo its open-endedness, however, the game should also equally accomdate players who rather want to follow the main story-line and shouldn't have to get side-tracked with exploration or side quests to succeed in this game. I had the same impression of Oblivion too but atleast that game had gorgeous scenery to look and admire at while this game doesnt even have that.

Well money down the drain but hey atleast I wont be making the same mistake with purchasing Fallout:New Vegas

This is one of those games that is so fracking good, you don't want to go to sleep for fear of coming back to reality. This is the kind of game that breaks up marriages. I lost myself in the Fallout universe while playing this game. You will be calling into work complaining of "stomach cramps" or whatever bull hocky excuse you can come up with just to play this game. There is so much to do and explore in this game, it blew my mind. The graphics really draw you into this post apocalyptic universe. The main storyline is quite enjoyable, but the side-quests are what really steal the show. From taking on giant mutant ants, to cannibalistic families inviting you in for dinner, this game never ceases to surprise me. I really enjoy the old-fashioned sounding music they came up with too, it actually sounds like old-timey music. The slow-mo effect, while not anything new, is rock solid fun. I also enjoy all the mature content, if this had been released with a teen rating i would have killed someone in slow-mo. This game is a keeper, you won't find yourself on ebay waiting for someone to bid on your game because you learned the hard way that it was a turd. In summary, just buy this game, dump your girlfriend or wife, buy some ho ho's and ding dongs and stock up on caprisun because Fallout 3 is coming for you!

Great game, to bad it doesn't run on windows 7. All it does is crash, even after all of the patches have been installed.
